CLINIC

A clinical examination, calm and thorough.

An eye examination at Six Six is designed to feel considered, unhurried, and deeply personal. Dr Natalie Boffa reviews your vision, refraction, binocular function and full ocular health in a single, spacious appointment, with OCT and ultra-widefield retinal imaging included as standard rather than reserved for when something looks wrong.

Dr Natalie Boffa is a therapeutically endorsed optometrist with more than a decade of experience in independent Melbourne practice and multidisciplinary ophthalmology settings.

That experience translates into the capacity to diagnose, prescribe for and manage a wide range of ocular conditions within the same appointment, from dry eye and ocular allergies through to glaucoma monitoring and early intervention.

You can book directly, without a GP referral. Six Six is a private billing practice, and we process your Medicare rebate on the spot so that you only pay the small out-of-pocket difference.

Specialist examinations

Considered clinical care, across conditions

Each examination is tailored. Expand any area below to read how Dr Natalie Boffa approaches it at Six Six.

Diabetic eye exams

Diabetes places ongoing demands on the eye, and early detection of retinal changes meaningfully shifts long-term outcomes. Our diabetic eye exams use OCT and ultra-widefield retinal imaging to screen for diabetic retinopathy, macular oedema and related changes, with the detail needed to share findings confidently with your GP or endocrinologist. Annual review is the standard recommendation, and Dr Boffa will tailor the interval to your own history.

Glaucoma eye exams

Glaucoma is one of the quietest causes of vision loss, and the case for careful monitoring is strong at any age, particularly if there is a family history. Our glaucoma assessments combine intraocular pressure measurement, OCT of the optic nerve and retinal nerve fibre layer, and ultra-widefield imaging to build a reliable baseline and track change over time. Where treatment is indicated, Dr Natalie Boffa can prescribe and manage therapy under her therapeutic endorsement.

Dry eye

Dry eye is a clinical condition in its own right, not a symptom to accept. Dr Natalie Boffa assesses tear film quality, meibomian gland function and ocular surface health, and builds a care plan that can include lubricant protocols, prescription drops, meibomian expression and onward referral where appropriate. Dry eye is reviewed as part of every comprehensive examination, and a dedicated follow-up is booked where active management is warranted.

Therapeutic care

Dr Natalie Boffa is therapeutically endorsed, which means she can diagnose, prescribe for and manage a range of ocular conditions without sending you to a second clinic. That covers infections, inflammation, ocular allergies and ongoing management of conditions such as glaucoma. For guests who have typically had to navigate multiple appointments across the CBD, this represents a quieter and more integrated alternative.

Emergency eye care

For sudden changes in vision, foreign body sensation, red eye, flashes, floaters or ocular trauma, we reserve space in the day for urgent appointments where possible. Please call us on 03 7056 8458 before you travel in. If the situation is clearly emergent, we will direct you to an ophthalmologist in our network or the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and continue care from there.

VicRoads driver assessments

We conduct the vision assessment required for VicRoads driver licence renewals and issue the supporting paperwork during the appointment. The assessment can be booked on its own or built into a comprehensive eye examination.

Children's eye tests

Our examinations are suitable for children, and we bring the same unhurried approach to paediatric appointments as we do to the rest of our work. Vision, focus, eye coordination and early ocular health screening are all part of the appointment, carried out at a pace that suits the child. Parents are welcome to sit in, and our team will walk children through each step so that the room feels calm rather than clinical.

FAQ

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book directly. Medicare rebates apply without a referral for eligible guests, and we process the rebate on the spot.

Will my eye test include OCT and retinal imaging?

Yes. Both OCT and ultra-widefield retinal imaging are included as standard in every comprehensive examination at Six Six, with no extra charge and no separate appointment.

How often should I have an eye examination?

For most adults with stable vision, every two years. Annually if you wear progressives, live with diabetes, or if Dr Boffa is monitoring a specific condition. Children typically benefit from a review every one to two years.

Can you treat dry eye and other ocular conditions?

Yes. Dr Boffa is therapeutically endorsed, which means she can prescribe for and manage dry eye, glaucoma, ocular allergies and infections without referring you on.
